Old Bastard Hockey

Four Decades
One Brotherhood

Mission Statement

At Old Bastard Hockey, our mission is simple: create a space where the game matters but the people matter more. For over 40 years, we’ve built a community of players who show up not just to skate, but to connect, belong, and unwind. From rookies lacing up for the first time to ex-pros still chasing the puck, OBH is a league where everyone brings something to the ice—and leaves with more than they came for. Brotherhood, respect, and damn good hockey, night in, night out.

About Us

Old Bastard Hockey: Four Decades. One Brotherhood.

Old Bastard Hockey (OBH) isn’t just a league it’s a second home for hundreds of players, five skates a week, all year long. Born over 40 years ago, OBH has grown into a multigenerational community built on respect, loyalty, and love for the game.
We’re a no contact, no drama league that brings together every type of player from brand new players to former pros. But it’s not about how good you are; it’s about how good you are to play with.Whether you’re on the ice, in the room, or leaning on a car in the parking lot, you’re part of something bigger at OBH. This is where the real friendships form, the weekday grind fades, and the best nights of the week begin.

Events

Hockeyfest & The Tony Costa Cup

A Championship Rooted in Brotherhood
Every June, Old Bastard Hockey gathers for the crown jewel of the league, Hockeyfest, our signature championship event where pride, history, and camaraderie collide. At the heart of it all stands The Tony Costa Cup, named in honor of OBH’s founder and the man who first laced this league together decades ago.More than just a trophy, the Costa Cup represents the soul of OBH: grit on the ice, respect in the room, and friendships that outlast the final horn. Each engraved shield tells the story of a team that came together, rose to the occasion, and earned their spot in OBH history. Whether you’re a rookie or a lifer, lifting the Costa Cup isn’t just about winning a game it’s about honoring the legacy we all skate for.

Awards Ceremony

One League. One Room. All the Beers.
Every February, the games go one ice, and the gloves come off for one night only. The OBH Awards Ceremony is our annual off-ice celebration where players from every night come together to raise a glass, honor the year, and recognize the legends among us.

With an open bar and a full house, Awards Night is equal parts tribute and roast. We hand out hardware for serious accomplishments, pass along legendary perpetual trophies, and crown winners of the most ridiculous honors you can imagine (and a few you wish we’d forget).

It’s a night of cheers, chirps, and championship level storytelling. No skates, no whistles, just the best guys in the best league, all in one room.

Golf Tournament

No Skills. No Rules. All Heart.
Once a year, we trade sticks for clubs and hit the worst course we can find for the least competitive golf tournament this side of a beer cart. The OBH Golf Tournament isn’t about handicaps (all though some of us might be), scorecards, or swing mechanics (thank God). It’s about showing up, teeing off, and seeing who can survive 18 holes of pure mayhem. The swings are ugly. The shots are worse. The carts? Often pushed to their limits. Nobody knows who’s keeping score (or if anyone ever did), but by the end, someone walks away with a win, usually by default, often by accident. It’s a full-league party in the middle of a golf course. If you think we’re good at hockey… just wait until you see us try to play golf.

Charitable Contributions

Giving Back Is Part of the Game
Old Bastard Hockey isn’t just a league, it’s a community. As a registered nonprofit, we’re proud to use our platform to support causes that matter to our players and our town.

Whether it’s organizing a food drive, donating gear, or honoring the memory of one of our own, OBH shows up when it counts. These efforts come from the locker room, not out of obligation, but out of respect, loyalty, and the bond we all share through this game.

Recent Contributions Include:

  • Food Bank Donations — league-wide collections and financial support for local pantries.
  • Equipment Donations — helping players and community programs get the gear they need.
  • Memorial Contributions — donating to causes selected by OBH families in memory of players and loved ones who’ve passed.

It’s not about publicity. It’s about showing up, doing good, and staying true to what OBH has always stood for. Brotherhood, respect, and looking out for each other.

If you’d like to connect about a future cause or contribution, get in touch.
We’re always ready to do more than just play the game.
